In June 2008 Capacitybuilders launched 'Strengthening Social Enterprise' - a national £6million investment programme to improve business support services for social enterprises.
SEWM has led a series of consultation meetings (see below) to determine priorities for investment in the region. This work has led to the development of five project proposals that were submitted to Capacitybuilders for assessment on 17 October 2008.
The projects include a peer to peer support programme, a social networking platform specifically for the West Midlands, an 'enterprise readiness' package, a procurement training programme, and a knowledge transfer project to capture and disseminate good practice.
A decision on the outcome of the applications is expected from Capacitybuilders in December 2008.
