Influencing policy

We have a key role to play in developing and influencing policies which impact on the social enterprise sector in the West Midlands.

Our objectives are to:

  • Consult and engage with our members to ensure we are able to effectively voice and represent their views, concerns and needs to those responsible for drafting policies and strategies at a sub-regional, regional and national level.

  • Use our access to research and intelligence to provide an informed view and set out the context within which social enterprise development is operating

  • Communicate policy developments to our members clearly, concisely and in a timely fashion

  • Provide opportunities for members, particularly social enterprises, to be heard and contribute directly to the development of policy directives of interest/concern to them.

  • Assess the impact of policy development work undertaken by the Network and feed this back to our members.

Our policy activities:

  1. Review of A Point to Prove.  A Point to Prove is the West Midlands regional social enterprise framework.  It is a ten year guide to investing in the sector.  On behalf of AWM, we will be undertaking a review and updating this document in the light of the most recent evidence concerning the needs of and opportunities for the sector.
