SEUK | New local authority based report ‘Procuring for Good’

A new report has been released by SEUK, ‘Procuring for Good: How the Social Value Act is being used by local authorities’.

Written by James Butler (Public Affairs Manager, SEUK), in collaboration with others, and with a forward from Chris White MP, it explores the barriers identified by Lord Young that limit the impact of the legislation, as well as insights form research with local authorities in how they are levering social value in tendering and contracts to market.

KEY FINDINGS INCLUDE:

• A quarter (24%) of councils have a social value policy (or similar).
• A third (33%) routinely consider social value in their procurement and commissioning.
• Overwhelmingly, social value is seen to be within the remit of procurement teams.
