RE-ARRANGEMENT NOTIFICATION:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, SEWM CIC are sorry to inform you that the free media event taking place in March has had to be re-arranged. We are sorry for the inconvenience: plans are in place to re-arrange the event for May/June.
We will keep you posted on the date of the next workshop.
John Taylor Hospice (JTH), a leading social enterprise in the region, are running an event in March focused on supporting other social
enterprises to gain greater media exposure in the news.
SEWM CIC are delighted to be co-hosting the event which features headline speaker Stacey Barnfield, editor at the Birmingham Post, a Q & A with Stacey as well as an open forum to discuss tips, advice and attendee’s own experiences.
Social Enterprises attending will benefit from direct top tips from JTH and SEWM CIC as well as an opportunity to network with like-minded organisations.
John Taylor Hospice excel in communicating their stories to the local press and gaining national recognition too – this event sees them putting something back in to assist local social enterprises to do the same.
Twitter competition: On the day John Taylor Hospice and SEWM CIC will be running a Twitter competition for attendees to summarise why they are attending in a news style headline, to keep with the event’s theme, using a hashtag to capture submissions
About John Taylor Hospice
John Taylor opened in 1910 after the people of Birmingham gave generously to found the hospice, now the oldest non-denominational hospice in the UK. In 1948 the hospice was gifted to the NHS and moved to The Grange in Erdington. In 2011, John Taylor Hospice left the NHS, becoming a social enterprise and not for profit community interest company. Independence has meant the hospice can provide ‘Taylor-made’ care when and where it is needed. Every day more than 600 people across Birmingham and their families will receive the expert palliative and end of life care they need from the staff and volunteers of John Taylor.
John Taylor Hospice is an award winner. It gained the Social Enterprise West Midlands Prima Award for ‘innovation beyond expectation’ and received the RBS SE100 Storytelling Award last autumn. John Taylor was also one of only three social enterprises to receive the first Social Enterprise Mark Gold Marks at a ceremony at the House of Commons in November.
