Approachable Parenting helps Muslim parents, some who may have children with complex emotional and behaviour issues, to improve their parenting skills.
What does Approachable Parenting offer?
- Many Muslim parents traditionally find difficulty in engaging with or responding to parenting programmes because they cannot relate them to their religious and cultural beliefs.
- Offers parents of children with emotional and conduct issues a structured programme, ‘Five Pillars of Parenting’, 8 sessions with professionals in groups of 8 – 14 parents.
- Because the scheme responds to families with substantial difficulties it also includes the facility for individual follow up over a 6 month period after the group sessions.
- Approachable Parenting targets the age range of 4 to 11 years for troubled children – this gives the best outcomes. We are also developing programmes for 0-3 and teenagers.
Approachable Parenting offers a comprehensive, tailor made packages, including the accredited ‘Five Pillars of Parenting’ programme which has extensive evidence of its success and a specialised accredited practitioner training programme. We can support parents to improve their well-being reduce stress and teach them how to respond sensitively and appropriately to their children’s behavioural and emotional needs.
