Award winners announced

BES (Business Enterprise Support)’ West Midlands Business Support Professional Awards 2009 took place at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham last week. If you were unable to attend the prestigious awards ceremony, largely sponsored by Advantage West Midlands, we can now reveal the winners. 

The winners and the award sponsors are as follows:
 
1. The Social Enterprise Support Professional Award (sponsored by SEWM) was given to Tony Clabby from UnLtd (pictured inset with Kevin Maton, Network Director at SEWM).                   

2.  The Minority Ethnic Business Support Professional Award (sponsored by Minority Ethnic Centre of Expertise) was given to Michelle Grindly from WBDA (Women’s Business Development Agency).

3.  Young People’s Business Support Professional Award (sponsored by Young Peoples Centre of Expertise) was given to Dave Lewis from Progressive Educational Tools (P.E.T.)

4.  Women’s Business Support Professional Award (sponsored by Women’s Enterprise Centre of Expertise) was given to Minal Sodha from WBDA.   

5.  Business Consulting Professional Award (sponsored by Institute of Business Consulting) was given to Kulwant Chahal from Black Country Enterprise Ltd. – (Black Country Chamber of Commerce).      
              
6.  Business Information Professional Award (sponsored by BES) was given to Jean Williams from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.            
            
7.  Business & Skills Brokerage Professional Award (sponsored by Business Link West Midlands) was given to Karen Kirby from Greenshot Coaching and Training.

The overall winner...

Michelle Grindly won the West Midlands Business Support Professional Award 2009. Michelle is a Business Mentor for both the LEGI initiative and Business Link West Midlands. At any one time she has a caseload of over 50 women clients and has helped launch a significant number of women owned businesses. Michelle also holds the Gold Standard SFEDI accreditation award and is one of a small hand full of DTI accredited ‘Gender focus’ programme trainers for business support professionals.
