SEWM Network Meeting
The next SEWM network meeting will take place between 10.30am and 13.45pm on 13 October 2010.
Andrew O’Brien (Parliamentary Assistant to Chris White MP) will be explaining how The Public Services (Social Enterprise and Social Value) Bill could play a major part in enhancing the role of social enterprise – in particular with regard to local authority policies towards the sector and public service commissioning. As part of the campaign to support the Bill it will be really helpful if social enterprises attending could bring with them (or email to SEWM) a single sheet explaining what they do and the additional social and environmental impact they generate through being a social enterprise. We can then collate this information in a folder of evidence that Chris can use in support of his Bill.
The meeting will also include:
- Network Director’s report (including member consultation feedback)
- Working with Offenders – the MoJ/NOMS contracts
- Social Enterprise case study presentation: Mike Swain, All Saints Action Network
- Social enterprise and the Big Society
- Housing Associations – encouraging social enterprise activities
- Sara Burgess, The Community Interest Companies Regulator
- SECoE update and Jobcentre Plus Ambassadors
- Tour of The Workspace
- Lunch and networking
